Unfortunately, dental emergencies can occur no matter where you are, even if you’re on vacation. If this happens, it’s best to be as prepared as possible so you can know exactly what to do in the situation and so you can remain calm and clear-minded while caring for your smile. To help you be prepared for dental emergencies while you’re on vacation, then our dentist, Dr. Sandra L. Parker, encourages you to do the following things:
-Pack a handkerchief or gauze: These things can help you if you have injured your smile and if you are bleeding. Place the handkerchief or gauze over the injured tissues and apply pressure to stop the bleeding.
-Pack a small container with a lid: This container can help you keep a knocked-out tooth alive. All you need to do is fill the container with milk or saltwater and then place the tooth inside. This can keep the tissues of the tooth in the best condition possible. You can also place pieces of a broken tooth in the container to keep them safe, but you won’t need the liquids.
-Pack your dentist’s number: It’s very important to call your dentist as soon as you experience the injury. Our dental team can help you through the situation and can even help you find a nearby dentist who can help you.
